Inspiring Change

We’re here to share a simple but powerful message that “People of Earth Matter”.

We share this planet and its resources sustain us, all of us, regardless of anyone’s race, religion, age, gender, sexual status and orientation, geographic location, past or present, or history of past wrongful deeds and/or misguided conquests.

“People of Earth Matter (POEM)” advocates inclusiveness, equality, humility, and kindness.

POEM recognizes that everything matters: everything that sustains our lives on this planet (water, air, soil, plants, animals, industries, lifestyles, economies and mindsets); everything that protects and serves the health of people; and everything that advocates and supports the betterment of the human condition and global society.

THE BEST TIME TO PLANT A TREE WAS 20 YEARS AGO. THE SECOND BEST TIME IS NOW.

Chinese Proverb

A single belief and a simple message drive everything POEM does:  People of Earth Matter.  All of us. All of us share one world. All of us are connected by the earth beneath our feet. All of us contribute to its beauty and the richness of its heritage.

However not every society, nor group of people, has experienced equal treatment in sharing the wealth, benefits and wellbeing of Earth’s resources, opportunities, economics, political stature and liberties. POEM simply states that fact and advocates for its change.

I BELIEVE IN THE SUPREME WORTH OF THE INDIVIDUAL AND IN HIS RIGHT TO LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

John D Rockefeller

We chose to call ourselves POEM not merely to snap up a nifty acronym. Much soul searching went into identifying a appropriate name and designation that includes celebrating the human spirit signified through poetry. Our distant ancestors recited and sang poems that taught their children about the world around them and the world within them. Poetry continues to surround us all in songs, in the written word, in our ceremonies and our rites of passage. We rely on poems to explain our lives and entrust our legacy to our children. On every populated continent of the Earth today, parents, grandparents, and elders continue to use storytelling and recitation as a way of passing down the wisdom and heritage accumulated over millennia.

At POEM, our name serves as a constant reminder of what’s important: “People of the Earth”. Furthermore, we believe that how we treat and support one another should include being good stewards of our planet Earth.

EQUALITY IS THE SOUL OF LIBERTY; THERE IS, IN FACT, NO LIBERTY WITHOUT IT.
